(1) Joseph Smith (1st President), born to Joseph Smith Sr.
& Lucy Mack Smith in Sharon, Windsor Co., VT on 23 Dec 1805. LDS
Map of NY, PA, and OH areas of the U.S.
- The Church Beginngs... Palmyra-Manchester (1820-1831).
- The Church was organized in Fayette Township, NY on 6 APR
1830.
- The 1st Branch of the Church organized at Jos. Knight Sr
home in Colesville TWP in 1830.
(2) One of the earliest gathering places of LDS members was
Kirtland, Lake Co., OH. LDS

- The Saints were commanded to gather to Ohio (Dec 1830-Jan
1831).
- The Kirtland Temple (1st Temple)
dedicated on 27 MAR 1836. Kirtland was Headquarters of
the Church (1830-1838).
(3) By 1839 many LDS members began to gather in the area
around Nauvoo, Hancock Co., IL. LDS
